

Exams are a time when stress levels are higher than usual. Stress can be positive, helping you to stay motivated and focused. However, too much stress can be unhelpful - it can make you feel overwhelmed, confused, exhausted and edgy. It's important to try and keep things in perspective and find ways of reducing stress if things seem to be getting on top of you.

ReplyDelete• Draw up a study plan: Draw up a specific study plan for preparation for exams. This is the most fundamental key to effective studying and will require you to be self‐disciplined. You need to invest time in studying if you want to achieve well. There are no short cuts or magical solutions that will replace diligent, hard work.
• Assess how much of the course material you have read: Break your workload into systematic and manageable sections per subject.
• Take a systematic approach: I think, you should have been studying continuously throughout the semester and should already have had an opportunity to ‘interact’ with the study material.
• Don’t procrastinate or cram: Don’t rely on cramming or ‘cross‐night’. Cramming is the opposite of effective studying.
• Plan your time to include study, revision and social commitments - a balance of having fun, taking breaks and studying is vital.
• Review your notes regularly to reinforce your new-found knowledge.
• Before you do any revision, warm up by doing some gentle exercise to relieve any tension in your body and to get a rush of healthy oxygen flowing to your brain.
• Learn how to remember lists of things by linking each item to a location on a journey or route you are familiar with around your town. You could even use your own home.
• In an exam, make sure you read the question completely and fully understand what the examiner wants before you allocate your time and begin answering the questions
