
Many people jumped to the conclusion that “poor people are lazy,” which is an extremely broad brush, but a fairly reasonable one. After all, if the difference between high incomes and low incomes is a handful of personal choices and actions, the people not taking them – the people with low incomes – must be lazy, right?

I do agree, most of the poor people are lazy and some are poor because they are careless.
ReplyDeleteI think we need to take into cognizance the cause or what perpetuate the "lazy" behaviour as opposed to making reference to the symptoms. Can poor people be content with being poor, or are they just remonstrating their frustration by displaying the said behaviour?
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna broaden the scope here: Is our education system equipping and preparing our people with appropriate life-long skills? How do we measure the impact our education is having on the supposed recipients? Educated people in SA can't tap and explore available opportunities, thus feeling threatened with the influx of foreigners into our shores.
I sincerely believe that our education should be held in scrutiny to establish the its relevance to the societal and economic needs. The poor aren't just lazy, they don't have the expertise to intensively look at their environment and see opportunities to emancipate themselves from the adverse grip of poverty...
